Celebrate Spring Break in Island Fashion
It’s the biggest party season of the year; why not spend it in America’s best party city? Key West’s tropical climate provides warm ocean waters and balmy temperatures for your Florida spring break. You won’t be bored, as there are plenty of events during spring break in Key West, from live entertainment to racier proceedings like banana eating contests and bikini competitions. Duval Street has the largest concentration of bars in town, including Sloppy Joe’s, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, and Cowboy Bill’s Honky Tonk Saloon just to name a few. Dozens more dot the famous thoroughfare, and many more are within one or two blocks. They all have their own unique ways to celebrate spring break. Many offer drink specials and hold wild contests of all kinds.
Want to relax a little? No problem. Key West offers some of Florida’s best beaches for spring break. There’s Smathers Beach, which is popular with spring breakers for its gentle surf and undertow-free waters. There’s also Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, as well as the turquoise waters of Higgs Beach, Simonton Beach, and Indigenous Park. Higgs and Smathers offer the most amenities, such as beach chairs and umbrellas. There are also vendors who rent things like kayaks and jet skis. Whether you plan to party hard, soak up the rays, or find the perfect mix of both, Key West Spring Break can’t be beat.
